I’ve always had normal skin – not oily, not dry.  In my younger years I struggled with acne (that’s another story entirely), but now my battle is DRY skin.  It happened about a year ago – I noticed that my skin was sensitive feeling and  tight, and my fine lines were epic.  I attributed it a change in skin regimen and maybe I had been a little too aggressive…BUT…even after I pumped the brakes on the glycolic acid and retinols my skin had changed.

Literally looking parched, my poor skin had changed and no single hydration method was the cure all.  For the last year, I have been very mindful about what goes on my skin…and I’m going to admit I’m not always great about what goes INTO it (my body).

My skin regimen is pretty straight forward –
In the PM:
First, I use Pond’s Cold Cream to cleanse at night.  It melts my makeup away and moisturizes my skin without causing breakouts.  I can honestly say I very rarely wash my face with anything else; on occasion  if I’m being extremely lazy I use Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water which dries out my skin (the sensitive one).  Second, I apply Platinum Skincare‘s Fade Bright (thanks to my erratically pigmented skin) in a thin layer letting it dry.  Third, I apply a few drops of my Zia Botanicals Carrot Seed Oil to my finger tips and pat my face gently.  Lastly, I generously apply It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream.

In the AM:
I do not wash my face again, I simply run my Zia Botanicals Rose Water toner over it (spritz heavily and wipe gently with a cotton pad) before  re-applying my serums, oils, and moisturizer/sunscreen.  The exception is, instead of directly applying the oil to my skin, I mix a few drops in with my sunscreen (which I’m currently using Skin Medica Total Defense & Repair).  Carrot Seed Oil is great for skin damage and also repairs and protects skin from UV damage; and when mixed into the sunscreen makes the sunscreen feel less mattifying and heavy.

Follow with makeup routine.

Now, with that being said, I take good care of my skin on the surface but something is lacking.  Today I will begin my challenge – I know I don’t drink enough water (shaking my head at myself as we speak) and why not incorporate some vitamins?  I have started taking Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails.  I’ll take a before and after of my water and viamin add-in!  The true test will be in how my skin feels though.  Will update as they come along – 30, 60, 90?
