Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Concealer
Sephora Collection Perfection Mist Airbrush Foundation

As I have mentioned before, I’m obsessed with a lot of things and one of them is makeup/foundation…I’m searching for perfection although that changes with season, age (oh joy!), etc.  I recently bought a new concealer and foundation from Sephora – I want to love both, but I’m not certain just yet.  I’m having a hard time with my skin in the dryness department, so regardless of what I use I spy fine lines er’ywhere…it’s no good.  Yes, winter is approaching upon us, but I don’t feel that it’s been cold enough to zap my face from moisture (although my sons poor dry hands tell me a different story).  But I digress – pictured in the upper right are my recent purchases.

Let’s start with the fact that I put a million (okay, maybe three or four) things on my face before any color.  I prep my face (SUNSCREEN is a MUST, yes I’m yelling) and then my first round of color is CC Cream (I typically use Smashbox CC Cream) then I follow with concealer to my problem areas.  I find the CC Cream has good coverage, and it’s easy…followed by either one of my two fav concealers that always have good coverage and seemingly do the trick.

HOWEVER, I purchased Kat Von D’s concealer and am giving that a go – her makeup is edgy and being a tattoo’d girl myself and knowing that ink is much darker than hyper-pigmentation I want to believe this has true coverage that lasts.  Sephora’s site (if you click on the Kat Von D link) gives tips for application which I think is great.  So far, so good.

Next, I long for Kim Kardashian or J.Lo’s go-to makeup looks because their skin always looks airbrushed and flawless…glowing.  Yes, I realize they have access to a bit more than I have, however, I can still strive for that look!  So I picked up the Perfection Mist Airbrush Foundation.  What’s nice is you can spray directly on your face (using light circular motion, a little goes a long way plus it’s buildable!) or spray onto a foundation brush and apply similarly.  It has great coverage and sits very nicely on the skin.  I have used this in place of my CC Cream (while still using a separate sunscreen to be discussed later).

I’m experimenting with my applying concealer first, and my airbrush second (I typically do the reverse order when using my CC Cream & concealer); I follow with some contouring/highlighting and my eye makeup.  I will post pics when I perfect my method 😉

hugs! m.
